How does CaptiveWiFi link a WiFi session to a hotel stay?
CaptiveWiFi matches guests to their Hotel Cloud reservation by email address or room number captured at the WiFi portal. When a match is found, the WiFi session is recorded against the active stay and the guest profile is updated with verified contact data and consent status.
What if a guest books through a third-party OTA and uses a different email?
If the email at WiFi login differs from the OTA booking email, CaptiveWiFi will create or update a Hotel Cloud guest profile using the verified WiFi email. Over time this builds a richer, first-party email list that isn't dependent on OTA-sourced data.
Is this compliant with hotel data protection requirements?
Yes. CaptiveWiFi only transfers data to Hotel Cloud where the guest has explicitly opted in at the WiFi portal. Every record carries a consent timestamp, the wording displayed at capture, and IP address. A full DPIA is available on request.
