This page explains the cookies on captivewifi.com, run by ClubWizard Ltd (trading as CaptiveWiFi). It sits alongside our Privacy Policy.
The short version
- Necessary (always on): one cookie that remembers your cookie choice.
- Analytics (off by default): Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity, which help us see how the site is used.
- Live chat (only if you ask for it): our Chat button loads JivoChat when you click it. See "Live chat" below.
- We do not use marketing or advertising cookies, HubSpot or Google Tag Manager.
Analytics only after you say yes
Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity only load after you click "Accept analytics". If you click "No thanks", or you make no choice, neither loads and no analytics cookies are set.
Microsoft Clarity records how people use the site (session replay and heatmaps). Anything typed into form fields is masked.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat analytics as off and do not show the banner. You can still open "Cookie settings" in the footer at any time.
Live chat
The "Chat" button on every page is part of our own site. JivoChat's code is not loaded, and nothing is sent to Jivo, until you click it. Because you have asked for the chat, this does not depend on your analytics choice. Once you open it, Jivo sets its own cookies and storage to run the conversation. Their names and lifetimes are set by Jivo; see Jivo's privacy policy. If you never click Chat, none of this happens.

Lifetimes are what Google and Microsoft document. Check vendor docs for changes.
Signing in to our private admin area uses a strictly necessary session cookie. It is not set for ordinary visitors.
How we remember your choice
Your choice is stored in the cw-consent cookie for 6 months. It holds a random consent ID, your choice, the version of our wording and a timestamp. We ask again after 6 months, or when the wording changes.
Our record of your choice
Each time you make a choice we log it on our server: the time, your choice, the wording version, your consent ID and your IP address shortened by zeroing the last part (the last number of an IPv4 address; everything after the first 48 bits of an IPv6 address). We do not store your browser's user agent.
We keep this record for 12 months and then delete it automatically. It is our proof that we asked for and recorded your choice. Our lawful basis is legal obligation and our legitimate interest in demonstrating compliance.
Change or withdraw your choice
Use "Cookie settings" in the footer of any page, then choose "Withdraw consent". Withdrawing also deletes the analytics cookies we set on our domain (_ga, _ga_*, _clck, _clsk, CLID and MUID), as far as your browser allows.
Cookies that Google or Microsoft hold on their own domains are outside our control. You can clear them through your browser settings.
