Does CaptiveWiFi only sync opted-in guests to Impact Data?
Yes. CaptiveWiFi only syncs guest data to Impact Data where the guest has explicitly opted in to marketing at the WiFi portal. Guests who decline marketing are captured for analytics purposes only and are never pushed to your Impact Data marketing list.
Can Impact Data campaigns fire automatically when a guest connects to WiFi?
Yes. Once a guest is added or updated in Impact Data via the CaptiveWiFi sync, any existing Impact Data automations tied to that contact status will fire — welcome emails for new contacts, re-engagement flows for lapsed guests, and loyalty campaigns for returning regulars. The timing and logic is configured in Impact Data as normal.
What happens when a returning guest connects to WiFi again?
CaptiveWiFi matches the guest's email against existing Impact Data contacts. Their record is updated with the new visit date and frequency data, and any returning-guest tags are applied. This can trigger separate automation flows in Impact Data for returning customers — for example, a loyalty reward or re-visit offer.
Is the consent data captured at WiFi sufficient for Impact Data marketing?
Yes. CaptiveWiFi captures opt-in consent with a full audit record including the exact opt-in wording shown, timestamp and the guest's IP address. This consent record is passed to Impact Data alongside the contact, giving you a compliant, auditable basis for marketing under GDPR.
