How it works

From WiFi login to
Mailchimp audience

1
Guest logs into your WiFi
CaptiveWiFi shows your branded splash page. The guest enters their email, ticks marketing consent, and is granted WiFi access.
2
Contact syncs to Mailchimp
The email lands in your chosen Mailchimp audience as a subscribed contact with tags, merge fields and visit data already set.
3
Automations trigger
A welcome email fires immediately via Mailchimp Customer Journeys. Return visits increment the visit count merge field for segmentation.
Benefits

Why connect WiFi to Mailchimp

Grow your audience every day
Every WiFi login is a potential new subscriber. For a busy venue that's dozens of new, verified contacts added to Mailchimp automatically each day.
Tags for smarter segmentation
CaptiveWiFi adds venue, first-visit and return-visit tags automatically. Segment your audience in Mailchimp without any manual tagging.
Instant welcome emails
Mailchimp Customer Journeys fire the moment a guest is added. Welcome them while they're still in your venue, not 24 hours later.
FAQ

Common questions

Which Mailchimp plan is required?
The integration works with any Mailchimp plan that includes API access, including the Free plan. CaptiveWiFi uses the Mailchimp Marketing API to add subscribers.
Can I use multiple Mailchimp audiences?
Yes. Each venue in CaptiveWiFi can be mapped to a different Mailchimp audience (list), so you can keep your WiFi guest data separate from other subscriber lists.
Does it handle double opt-in?
CaptiveWiFi can work with Mailchimp's double opt-in setting. If enabled, Mailchimp sends a confirmation email before marking the contact as subscribed. We recommend single opt-in for hospitality venues to avoid losing guests at the confirmation step.
