CaptiveWiFi integrates with Cambium Networks via cnMaestro's external captive portal. Guest devices are redirected to your branded CaptiveWiFi splash page on connection, and RADIUS authentication is handled entirely by CaptiveWiFi. Works with cnPilot and ePMP access point series.

The Cambium integration uses cnMaestro's external captive portal combined with RADIUS authentication. CaptiveWiFi provides both the portal URL and RADIUS credentials — setup typically takes under 20 minutes.

Log into cnMaestro
Access your cnMaestro dashboard at cloud.cambiumnetworks.com (or your on-premise cnMaestro instance). Navigate to your site and open the wireless configuration.

Configure your guest SSID
Under WiFi → WLANs, create a new guest SSID or select an existing one. Set the security to Open — the captive portal handles all guest authentication.

Enable external captive portal
In the WLAN settings, navigate to the Captive Portal section. Enable captive portal and select External as the portal type so guests are redirected to CaptiveWiFi.

Set the CaptiveWiFi URL and walled garden
Paste your CaptiveWiFi portal URL into the External Portal URL field. Add getonline.captivewifi.io and captivewifi.fra1.digitaloceanspaces.com to the walled garden / whitelist so guests can reach the splash page before logging in.

Add the RADIUS server from CaptiveWiFi
Under AAA → RADIUS, add a new server profile using the IP address, port (1812) and shared secret provided by CaptiveWiFi support. Assign the profile to your guest WLAN.

Assign APs and test
Assign the WLAN to your cnPilot or ePMP APs and push the configuration. Connect a test device to the guest SSID and confirm the CaptiveWiFi splash page loads and grants access after login.

Common questions about
Cambium + CaptiveWiFi.

Which Cambium models are supported?
CaptiveWiFi works with Cambium cnPilot E-series indoor APs (E400, E500, E600, E700), R-series APs and ePMP series access points — provided they are managed via cnMaestro. Any cnMaestro-managed Cambium AP that supports external captive portal redirect is compatible.
Does it need cnMaestro to work?
Yes. The CaptiveWiFi integration is configured through cnMaestro, which is Cambium's cloud management platform. Both the cloud-hosted version (cloud.cambiumnetworks.com) and on-premise cnMaestro installations are supported.
What about on-premise Cambium deployments?
If you are running cnMaestro on-premise, the integration works in exactly the same way — the external captive portal and RADIUS configuration options are identical. Make sure your on-premise cnMaestro instance can reach the CaptiveWiFi RADIUS server. Contact our support team if you need help with firewall rules or network routing.
