Five steps to go live
with D-Link + CaptiveWiFi.

The integration uses D-Link's external captive portal feature, available in both Nuclias Cloud and standalone AP management. RADIUS credentials are provided by CaptiveWiFi.

Create a guest SSID in Nuclias or the D-Link AP
In Nuclias Cloud or the D-Link AP web interface, create a new SSID for guest traffic. This is the network guests will connect to and be redirected from before gaining internet access.

Enable external captive portal
In the SSID settings, navigate to the captive portal or guest access section and select External Portal as the authentication type. This enables the redirect to an external URL on first connection.

Set the CaptiveWiFi portal URL
Enter your CaptiveWiFi portal URL (e.g. https://getonline.captivewifi.io/guest/your-site-id) as the external portal address. Add getonline.captivewifi.io to the walled garden or whitelist so guests can reach the page before authentication.

Add RADIUS server credentials
Add radius.captivewifi.io on port 1812 as the RADIUS authentication server. Enter the shared secret provided by CaptiveWiFi support. Test the connection to confirm it is reachable.

Test and go live
Connect a test device to the guest SSID. Confirm you are redirected to the CaptiveWiFi splash page, complete the login, and verify the session appears in your CaptiveWiFi dashboard.

Common questions about

Does this work with Nuclias Cloud and standalone D-Link APs?
Yes. CaptiveWiFi supports both deployment types. For Nuclias Cloud, the external captive portal is configured through the Nuclias dashboard and applies across all managed sites. For standalone D-Link access points, configuration is done directly in the AP web interface. The RADIUS and portal URL settings are the same in both cases.
Which D-Link access point models are supported?
CaptiveWiFi works with any D-Link access point that supports external captive portal redirect and RADIUS authentication. This includes the DAP series and all Nuclias Cloud-managed access points (DNH series). Contact our support team to confirm compatibility with a specific model.
Do I need a RADIUS server of my own?
No. CaptiveWiFi operates a fully managed RADIUS server at radius.captivewifi.io. You simply add it as the authentication server in your D-Link or Nuclias configuration. Our team provides the shared secret you need to complete the setup.
