Configure ExtremeCloud IQ.

The integration uses ExtremeCloud IQ's external WebAuth captive portal and RADIUS authentication. CaptiveWiFi provides the portal URL and RADIUS credentials — setup takes under 20 minutes.

Log into ExtremeCloud IQ
Access your ExtremeCloud IQ dashboard (formerly HiveManager NG). Navigate to Configure → Network Policy and select or create a guest network policy.

Create a guest SSID with external portal
Under the SSID settings, set the Captive Web Portal type to External. This tells the AP to redirect unauthenticated guests to your CaptiveWiFi splash page.

Set the CaptiveWiFi portal URL and walled garden
Paste your CaptiveWiFi portal URL into the Captive Web Portal redirect field. Add getonline.captivewifi.io and captivewifi.fra1.digitaloceanspaces.com to the walled garden / pre-auth access list.

Add RADIUS credentials from CaptiveWiFi
Go to AAA → RADIUS Servers and create a new RADIUS profile using the server IP, port (1812) and shared secret provided by CaptiveWiFi support. Assign the profile to your guest SSID.

Assign the policy to your APs and test
Push the network policy to your Extreme Networks or Aerohive APs. Connect a test device to the guest SSID and confirm the CaptiveWiFi splash page loads and grants access after login.

Common questions about
Extreme Networks + CaptiveWiFi.

Does this work with Aerohive hardware?
Yes. Extreme Networks acquired Aerohive in 2019. All Aerohive access points — including the HiveAP range — are now managed via ExtremeCloud IQ. The CaptiveWiFi integration works identically regardless of whether your APs are branded Aerohive or Extreme Networks.
Which AP models are supported?
Any access point managed via ExtremeCloud IQ is supported. This includes all current Extreme Networks AP3xx, AP4xx and AP5xx series, as well as legacy Aerohive HiveAP models that have been migrated to ExtremeCloud IQ management.
We are still using HiveManager NG — does it still work?
HiveManager NG has been superseded by ExtremeCloud IQ, which Extreme Networks encourages all customers to migrate to. If you are still on HiveManager NG, the integration concept is the same — external WebAuth redirect plus RADIUS. Contact our support team and we will walk through the exact configuration for your platform version.
